Why you should have more than one pair of spectacles throughout your life.
You can’t use the same specs throughout your life, this is why.
Pre-presbyopic people (under 40 years old ) fortunately still hold a greater amount of elasticity in the focusing mechanism of the eye whereas presbyopic (Over 40) do not. This means that we require various strengths of lenses for near vision and distance vision tasks.
When we look at something close up our lenses change shape and enhance the focusing power for clearer vision. As we migrate from pre-presbyopic to the older presbyopic the lenses begin to lose their suppleness. But do not fear as this is just a normal part of the aging process.
As we age, the process to ensure healthy sight remains unchanged.
We simply need to follow a few basic guidelines such as:
Healthy diet ( Ensure you get that Vitamin A in)
Visit your optometrist regularly
Use the correct spectacles for the preassigned tasks e.g. Do not use reading glasses for general walking around.
Our eyes age but this most certainly does not mean we must battle.
